Our First Youth Camp

Justin, Kristin and I went to Lake Isabella with 13 kids and another couple from our church for our yearly Youth Summer Camp. Typically we go to the Calvary Chapel Conference Center in Green Valley, but they didnt have room for us this year, so we stepped out in faith and planned our own camp this year.

We left last Sunday, 20th, and got back last night. The week was awesome for all the kids. We were studying the book of James and Justin taught about Godly wisdom. Our theme this year was Wise Men Still Seek Him. What an amazing thing it is to witness God working in the lives of our youth, convicting them of their sin, showing them his perfect love for them and will for their lives. To watch them grow spiritually is such a blessing.

We had a ton of activities, we went water rafting (dont worry, Kristin didn't go:), swimming in the lake & river, fishing, boating, capture the flag (water balloon style - with launchers!), and lots and lots of smores!

Kristin did really well considering. Today after church she slept from about 12:30-5:15pm. She was one tired girl!

One of the days, while all the kids and leader went river rafting, Kristin and I stayed at the camp. It was so hot during the day we were doing everything we could to stay cool. Kristin loves to drink water out of a water bottle, she is such a big girl! well I accidentally splashed her with it and she giggled, so I splashed her again, and again and again and ...well you get it, she laughed and thought it was so funny! Below is a video of her being "splashed!".

Camp was awesome, we look forward to doing it again next year, Lord willing.

Git 'er done! (Justin told me to write that, lol. the kids get it)

Proud Uncle, Antie & Cousin AGAIN to Joshua Bryan Mullin!

Baby Joshua is finally here! Almost a full week past his 'due date' Joshua Bryan Mullin was born at 1:13pm on Tuesday, July 15th, 2008. A whopping 9lbs 6oz and 21 1/2 inches long! What a big baby! April was amazing in her labor and delivery! We praise God for His perfect timing and provision for the Mullin family, April was scheduled to be induced today but she went into natural labor Monday, well actually Tuesday morning, 12am. They checked into Palomar Hospital around 6am and she was already 5cm dialated! After getting her epidural she speedily progressed to 10cm within a few hours but spend about 2 hours pushing little 'big' Joshua into the world. He is absolutly adorable, and we can see how amazed and in awe April and Bryan are at this little miracle that God created.

Our Day at the Aquarium

We thought it would be a great idea to take Kristin and her cousins, Delena, Gracie, Katelynn & Lauren and their dad, Alberto, to the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla on Sunday. They had been looking forward to this all week long. When we arrived the girls were so excited they couldnt wait to see all the fish. Kris fell asleep about 5 minutes before we arrived at the aquarium, doesnt it always turn out that way! She slept through most of the time we were there, but when she woke up she really enjoyed looking at the big fish in the tanks! She would stare into the water and bang on the windows, and point at the fish as they swam by. The favorite of all the girls seemed to be the jelly fish. They thought that was really cool stuff!

Sometimes it stinks being a parent...

I wouldn't change being a parent, or having Kristin for the life of me. But there are times, and I know all you parents agree with me, where it just stinks to be a parent. It seems like kids get sick ALL the time. Well this was one of those times. Kristin had been sick this week and our 4th of July plans went out the door. We sat around the house all day bored and hot, thinking about all the fun everyone else was having....or at least I was. There will be other 4th's that we will get to enjoy, we were just bummed that her first one (that she wont even remember! : ) was spent at home. Thus is life, Thus is the life of a parent. HAPPY 4th of JULY!
